We have an experienced staff, many of whom have an extensive background in biomechanics, orthopedics, and yoga therapy.
For anyone suffering from chronic pain or injury; the first thing to know about therapeutic yoga, is that no yoga experience is required.
Radiance Yoga's owner, Aura Fechter has created thousands of customized therapeutic exercise programs for people who have then found relief.
Each session begins with a one-on-one consultation with Aura. It includes a physical assessment, an evaluation of lifestyle habits, in studio therapeutic exercise, and follow-up exercises to do at home.
Most clients feel some relief after their first session and certainly, have a better understanding of what’s going on with their bodies. You'll learn how to prevent future injury, which is just as important as addressing your current condition.
Radiance Yoga and Therapeutic Exercise Center was established in 1975. It is located in the charming and historic community of Mission Hills at 1612 W. Lewis St.
We have an experienced and dedicated staff, many of whom have an extensive background in biomechanics, orthopedics, and yoga therapy.
Yoga Therapy begins with a thorough intake of the individual client’s needs. Those needs might include orthopedic issues, general health issues, and the desire to reduce anxiety or decompress. Once the needs of the client are ascertained, then a program is developed which is specific to those needs.
We will work hand in hand with your other health professionals to provide you with the best care possible. Yoga Therapy incorporates Yoga asanas (poses) and Pranayama (breathing). The difference is that Yoga Therapy is tailored to the individual to bring about a desired outcome such as reduction in pain, increased range of motion and strength, and/or lower levels of stress and fatigue.
The answer is most likely, “Yes”! Once your evaluation is completed, we can ascertain whether or not Therapeutic Exercise is appropriate for you. Fortunately, Therapeutic Exercise is fluid, and we can modify the poses to suit your needs. In the event that your specific condition warrants further diagnosis and testing, we will refer you to the appropriate health professional.
Normally, that is not a problem. In fact, the Therapeutic Exercise may help improve your technique in your other activities. It will give you greater insight into that which is helping you recover and that which is hindering your recovery.
There are two ways to get started: 1) Sign-up for an introductory session to determine what groups might be appropriate for you, or 2) Sign-up for a private consultation with Aura to review your medical history, and get started with your Yoga Therapy Program. At the end of the first session, we will chat about what will work best for you. The program you choose can range anywhere from going directly into groups, to taking private sessions 1-2X’s per week, or a combination of private and groups.
